Required Elements

Every press release must contain:

A clear and informative headline

A dateline (location and date)

A lead paragraph answering:

Who?

What?

Where?

When?

Why?

Supporting body content

At least one relevant quotation where possible

A boilerplate paragraph about the issuing organisation

Full media contact details

At least one cover photograph uploaded as an image file (URLs alone are not accepted)

Content Requirements

Newsworthiness

Press releases must communicate genuine news, developments, events, products or services relevant to the travel and hospitality industry. Submissions should provide useful information and genuine editorial value rather than direct advertising.

Objectivity

Maintain a professional and factual tone. Avoid excessive promotional language, personal opinions, unsupported superlatives and excessive punctuation.

Accuracy

All submissions must be fact-checked and free from errors, inaccuracies and misleading statements. The publisher reserves the right to request supporting evidence for any claim.

Authorisation

Where necessary, submitters must have written permission from relevant organisations, individuals or rights holders mentioned within the release.

Formatting Requirements

Language

  1. All releases must be written in clear English.
  2. Use standard grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  3. Explain specialist terminology or industry jargon where necessary.

Length

Minimum: 300 words

Maximum: 1,000 words

Include a summary or sub-heading of no more than two sentences.

Links

Use links sparingly.

As a general guideline, include no more than one link per 100 words.

Excessive linking may result in rejection.

Email Addresses

Do not include email addresses within the body text of the release. Contact details should appear only within the designated media contact section.

HTML and Special Formatting

Do not include HTML code.

Do not use unusual characters, decorative symbols or excessive formatting.

Capitalisation should follow normal grammatical conventions.

Release Date Requirements

Clearly indicate one of the following:

For Immediate Release

The information may be published immediately.

Embargoed Release

Clearly state the date and time before which the information must not be published.

Include the location and issue date on every release.

Images

Please include relevant photographs or illustrations wherever possible.

Images should:

Be current and relevant to the story

Be clear and of publishable quality

Have all necessary permissions and usage rights secured

Be supplied as image files rather than external links

Ideally be landscape, at least 1280 pixels wide at 72dpi or higher

Quotations

Where possible, include quotations from:

Company executives

Business owners

Event organisers

Subject matter experts

Relevant stakeholders

Quotes should support the announcement and provide additional insight rather than repeating factual information.
